Drawing Words ✏️¶

Put names, labels and speech bubbles in your pictures

Your First Words 💬¶

To draw words, draw text and put the words in its content, inside quotes:

// Default canvas: 800 wide, 600 tall, white
draw text at 50, 100 having content "Hello, world!"

The quotes tell VeeLang where your words start and stop.

Where do the words go?

at is where the words start, on the line they sit on, like the line on a page in your notebook. The words go to the right of at, and up from it.

Big and Small Words 🔠¶

size makes the letters bigger or smaller:

Colorful Words 🌈¶

color (or fill) colors the letters:

draw text at 40, 150 having content "Green", size 50, color "green"
draw text at 40, 220 having content "Blue", size 50, fill "blue"

Fancy Letters 🖋️¶

font changes how the letters look. These fonts work everywhere:

"sans-serif": plain letters (this is what you get if you don't choose)
"serif": letters with little feet, like in a book
"monospace": every letter the same width, like a typewriter
"cursive": joined-up, handwriting letters

Labels for Your Drawings 🏷️¶

Words are great for labeling the parts of a picture:

A Speech Bubble 🗨️¶

The tail is drawn first, so the bubble covers the top of it:
