Privacy

VeeLang is made for children, so it collects as little as possible. This page explains, in plain words, what happens to your child's work and what we can see.

No accounts

There is no sign-up and no login. We never ask for a name, email address, age or anything else about your child.

Drawings stay on your device

Drawings are saved in your web browser on this device (in its built-in storage, called IndexedDB). They are never uploaded to us. If you clear your browser's site data, or use a different device or browser, those drawings won't be there.

To keep a drawing, use Save picture to download it as an image, or Share to make a link.

Share puts the drawing's code inside the link itself, after the # sign. That part of a link is never sent to our servers, so we can't see shared drawings. Anyone who has the link can open the drawing and make their own copy, so share links only with people you trust.

Visit counting

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly service that doesn't use cookies. It counts page views (for example, how many people opened the playground today) and records which page was opened, which website linked to it, the country, and the kind of browser and device, along with how fast the page loaded. It doesn't track anyone across websites or build a profile of anyone. It never sees your child's drawings: when a drawing is opened from a shared link, the visit counter starts only after the drawing has been removed from the page address. Cloudflare's privacy policy explains how it handles this data.

Cookies and other websites

The playground and these docs don't set cookies. Everything they need, including the code editor and fonts, is served from our own site, so visiting doesn't contact other companies' servers. The only exception is the visit counter above, which loads a small script from Cloudflare and sends it the page view.

Open source

VeeLang is open source, so anyone can check exactly what it does: github.com/schatekar/veelang.
